What is Linux Mint?
Linux Mint is an operating system for desktop and laptop computers. It is designed to work ‘out of the box’ and comes fully equipped with the apps most people need.
Cinnamon Edition
Sleek, modern, innovative
The most popular version of Linux Mint is the Cinnamon edition. Cinnamon is primarily developed for and by Linux Mint. It is slick, beautiful, and full of new features.
Xfce Edition
Light, simple, efficient
Xfce is a lightweight desktop environment. It doesn’t support as many features as Cinnamon but it’s lighter on resource usage.
MATE Edition
Classic, traditional
MATE is a classic desktop environment. It is the continuation of GNOME 2, which was Linux Mint’s default desktop between 2006 and 2011.
Linux MintとのDual Bootの目的：
- 親のPCがWindows Updateの度、ブラウザをEdgeに導こうとする。Chromeを使わせているので困る。Edge使わせる手もある。。
- そのたびに電話が来て何をクリックすればいい？と聞かれるが、画面わからんがな。
- Teamsなども使えず、スマホで写メ送ってもらいながら解決。
- 「このPCは乗っ取られました」と表示される地雷をやたらに踏んでくれる。もちろんその度に電話がなり、見に来い、と言われる。
- Linuxならサポート楽にならんかな？FireFoxに慣れてもらえばいいよね
- 親のPCの使い方は１）Yahoo Newsを見る、２）Google検索、３）麻雀ゲーム の３つのみ
- よって、Classic and Traditional なMATEが安心感あり。

結局親のPCはEdgeにした。それが一番無難そう。
もともとWindows10とUBUNTUのDual Bootにしようと思っていたPCは2013年11月発売のDynabook SatelliteでCore i5-4200M。Windows11に移行できない機種。
一回Windows10をクリーンインストールして、UBUNTUも入れてみた。どちらもサクサク動く。でも今のところ使い道がない。妹に聞いたら、引き取ってくれた。超ＰＣ音痴な妹よ、何をしたいのか？
